PRJ300 – Progress so far – 16/10/08
During the week I have been working on the report, to fill in all the gaps from the sections. I finished the results section, by adding the missing questions, and have completed the discussion, and conclusion sections. I was working on polishing up the references, however there are quite a lot of them, so it may take some time. Next week I will be working on the background section, separating the questions into more manageable chunks. I will also be adding some new information to the literature review, namely the research I found on the Internet relating to New Zealand data security.
There was no meeting with the project supervisor last week, as she was sick. So the meeting has been post-poned to this week, on Tuesday 28th of October @ 1:00pm. It should be good to discuss what I have been doing on the report, and to get some feedback.
Thats all for now, I will keep you posted.
Cheers,
Herb Hesketh
PRJ300 – Update from meeting today – 13/10/08
Just a quick update,
Had a meeting with the project supervisor to discuss my progress on the report so far. I showed her what I had been working on, this included: the results section, limitations, and the background section. In the results section it was noted that some of the tables were not needed, as they only consisted of two variables, which could be replaced with describing the results from the table. Some of the tables could be turned into pie charts to visualise the results. In the role section of the results section, some words need to be changed cause they are quite close to what the project supervisor had written in her report. I still need to add questions 19 – 21, however the project supervisor said I am making quite good progress with the report considering there are 4 weeks left to the semester.
With the limitations section it was noted that the limitations need to be directed at the survey more than the actual report, more information could be added to the limitations section, such as: Only 25% (or something similar) so cannot generalise.
The background section, in regards to describing the questions, the need to be grouped into related sections, such as: Size, so it does not seem so long winded.
Thats all for now.
Cheers,
Herb
PRJ300 – Good progress – 10/10/08
Thanks for the wait, it is now a Friday evening, and I thought I would report back with the progress on the research report. Since the 29th, I have managed to put a close to the literature review, it is still not finish to the standard I would like it to be, I still need to include some New Zealand references in their, as well as some more information from a Scientific American article, however for now it is good as a draft.
Last Wednesday was the end of the trial for the grapevinesurveys.com survey I created. Not to worry as I got all the information I need from the survey on the 3rd of October, so now I am just writing up the results. I am not entirely sure if it is the right way to write a results section but I have created 21 tables for each of the 21 questions, and I will be including these in the results section. Each part of the survey has been divided into its own section, such as: role, business, and security sections, under the heading of results. Currently I am upto writing about question 13 results of the survey, the word count at this stage has reached: 12,386 words, just need 15,000 words
Its only the draft but hey!
Work that still needs to be done on the report is I think the background section of the report, instead of summarising the 21 questions, they need to be described in sections, and the important questions need to be described as well. Then I need to work on the Limitations of the survey/report, and lastly finalise the report. I will be checking back with my project supervisor @ 1pm on Monday so I will be able to clarify with her if I am in the right direction.
That is all for now, for the progress of the project, I will post back in a weeks time for the progress of the project.
Cheers,
Herb H.
